Novice Nook # 62 It's Friday, so that must mean it's time for another Novice Nook article! This week it's # 62 and entitled "The Most Common Opening Inaccuracies". Heisman goes through 11 common tactical inaccuracies in various openings and shows their refutations. A good article for novices and an entertaining read even if you don't play some of these lines.

At the end of the article he throws in "A Simple Counting Problem" which is a good little analysis of how one can go wrong applying general principles to concrete situations - an issue near and dear to my heart.

Very useful column... ... Great on plausible errors in the early opening. (Yep, I've been caught out in one of the examples given: Qd2 before f3 in the dragon defence.)
